Juliet's Victory Garden

Posted in
Garden Type:

I have been wanting to put in raised vegetable beds since we moved into our home 2.5 years ago.  I finally got around to doing it this year.  I started everything from seeds.  I built the boxes myself.  A hail storm at the end of June managed to beat up most of my plants.  I wasn't sure anything would make it.  The tomatoes looked dead, my eggplants and peppers were dead, I was sure.  I couldn't even go out to look at it, it made me so sad.  Then little, by little new leaves started appearing.  And now almost a month later it's all back and gorgeous.  I just harvested some pattypan squashes.  Beans, tomatoes and peppers are flowering.  The zinnias are popping up in between.  It's truly a victory garden to me.  But next year I am definitely building hail covers!
