Garden Type:

Breaking Ground aims to convert vacant redevelopment sites to urban gardens/farms.  The pilot project in Denver's Highland neighborhood was donated by architect and developer Jim Schneck, is being managed by volunteer farmers Jason and Kate McRoy, and maintained by Independence House.  The produce will be donated to local food banks.

Year Established:
2009
Size:
3000sq ft

Location

2621 W. Caithness Place
Denver, CO, 80211
What is your favorite part about gardening?:
This exciting project has converted an abandoned, blighted junkyard into a neighborhood asset, all while providing additional green space for birds and bees, and (hopefully) fresh vegetables for local food banks.
