Garden Type:

Built a greenhouse this year out of old storm windows, but was unable to use it very early. Next year (and over winter) should have a good head start. I'm planting in 3x3 wooden crates discarded from warehouses, a 4X16 raised bed from reclaimed lumber, and the good old ground. I've reclaimed 16X50 ft patch of lawn in addition to the official fenced-in garden area. I never have enough compost and will be stealing leaves this fall. Need to meet a restauranteer who can regularly supply veggie scraps and buckets. Peas and potatoes are coming up. So far I have planted; tomato, broccoli, cauliflower, eggplant, peppers, corn, melons, green beans, lima, carrots, spinach, lettuce. I am working with heirlooms, no pesticides, purely organic. If I can't keep the bugs off then they wanted it more.

What is your favorite part about gardening?:
Playing in the dirt. The smell of good soil. The continual joy of seeing that sprout emerging from the ground.
