We just planted the salad and salsa container gardens in our wine barrel halves yesterday. Strawberries, peppers, tomatoes and marigolds went in. We're adding lettuce, cucumber, and green onions today and creating the troughs for our herb garden-cilantro, rosemary, basil, thyme, lemon balm, sage.
Our flower pots are filled and out around the house and I can't wait to prep our compost station next!

Denver, CO, 80205With so many people looking to grow their own food, I imagine there are folks who want some assistance in getting their own gardens up and running. I also know there are many families in our immediate area who would greatly benefit from a fruit/veggie garden's rich bounty. I would like to organize the Cole/Whittier Gardening Collective, comprised of members of these neighborhoods who are willing to use their yards/berms as garden spaces. The yields would benefit both the grower and members of the community, i.e. local food pantries, shelters, etc.
